If your Halloween didn’t go quite as planned, it’s probably nothing compared to what Ryan McCartan endured.

The Liv and Maddie and Rocky Horror Picture Show reboot star shared via Instagram on Tuesday (November 1) that he spent his Halloween in a hospital, thanks to “a series of food-poisoning, dehydration and diabetes-related complications.” While he’s feeling much better now, McCartan did note how his loved ones “quite literally saved [his] life.”

This incident comes right after McCartan put on a Shaggy Rogers costume and hung out with Miranda Cosgrove, Jennette McCurdy, Colton Tran, and Ryan Adamés, all dressed as the members of Scooby-Doo.

“Life is precious but fragile, and boy did I get that reminder!” McCartan wrote in the caption.
