The Amy Winehouse Foundation Wants Your Back To Black Covers

Win studio time with Mark Ronson by sharing your best renditions of Amy’s hits

Warm up those pipes, Amy Winehouse superfans — your chance at stardom is here.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the late singer’s seminal album Back to Black, Island Records and The Amy Winehouse Foundation have launched a global covers competition. The stakes are high here — the winner will get the chance to record their cover in a studio with Back to Black producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, who will also judge the contest.

Here’s how it works: Fans can go to the Amy Winehouse Vevo channel to find lyrics to four Back to Black cuts: “Tears Dry on Their Own,” “Just Friends,” “Rehab,” and “Back to Black” (the former two were produced by Remi, and the latter two by Ronson). Each vid includes a link to download the songs’ original instrumentals, which fans can then use as the backing track for their submissions. Next, film your performance, upload it to YouTube, then submit it on Winehouse’s official website. Voilà.

Island and Vevo will donate all contest funds to The Amy Winehouse Foundation, which uses music education and therapy to help young people overcome issues related to homelessness, mental health, and drug and alcohol addiction.

The contest is open now and concludes January 31, 2017. Check out the contest submission form here, and see Remi announce the contest in a video below.
