Run The Jewels Get Political On Pounding New Song ‘Talk To Me’

The first taste of ‘RTJ3’ is straight 🔥

Today (October 24) marks the two-year anniversary of Run the Jewels’s stellar sophomore album, and what better way to celebrate than to preview their next era?

Cue “Talk To Me,” the first taste of Killer Mike and El-P’s upcoming threequel, Run The Jewels 3. The duo sounds more fired up than ever, delivering lightning-quick verses against surging, menacing production. Just in time for Election season, there’s also a hefty dose of politically charged bars: “Born black, that’s dead on arrival / My job is to fight for survival / In spite of these #AllLivesMatter-ass white folk,” Killer Mike raps. Yep, these guys couldn’t have picked a better time to come back.

In a Beats 1 interview with Zane Lowe following the song’s premiere, Killer Mike said, “This is a powerful one... I think when people hear this they’re gonna at least get a piece of the energy to come. We’re definitely not playing games.”

El-P added that they’re currently putting the finishing touches on RTJ3, and they’re super proud of the work they’ve done: “We put our heart and soul into this record. I think we’re walking away from this record feeling like it’s the greatest thing that we artistically have done together.”
