Little Mix Cast Some Major Zayn Shade On ‘Shout Out To My Ex’

‘Guess I should say thank you / For the hate-yous and the tattoos’

The first single from Little Mix's forthcoming album Glory Days is here, and it appears to cast some shade over a particular One Direction ex-pat.

"Shout Out to My Ex" is the kind of breakup song that's universal enough to resonate with anyone who's ever broken up with somebody, but a few clues indicate that it may also be a jab at Perrie Edwards's ex-boyfriend Zayn Malik.

For one, Perrie kicks off the track with the lines, "This is a shout out to my ex / Heard he in love with some other chick." Zayn barely leaves the house anymore without his new GF, Gigi Hadid, so we imagine Perrie would have caught wind of that new relationship.

Then there's this couplet: "Guess I should say thank you / For the 'hate-yous' and the tattoos." Remember that time Zayn got a giant portrait of Perrie tattooed on his arm (and subsequently covered it up after their breakup)?

She also notes that the relationship in question lasted four years, which is exactly the amount of time that she was with Zayn.

The second verse is just as incriminating. "I deleted all your pics / Then blocked your number from my phone," Jesy Nelson sings. Perrie did, in fact, delete all photos of Zayn from her Instagram shortly after their breakup.

Does that mean that this barbed line — sung by Perrie, no less — is aimed at Zayn, too? "Forget that boy, I'm over it / I hope she gettin’ better sex / Hope she ain't fakin’ it like I did, babe."

Ouch.
