What do you get when you throw Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, sex, steep cliffs, creepy kids, and some deadly mystery into the mix?

The trailer for Big Little Lies, pretty much.

The new series, which premieres on HBO in 2017 (with an air date still TBA), is inspired by Liane Moriarty's novel, which follows the story of a few mothers who seem to be dealing with more than your basic parenting responsibilities and struggles.

We don't get too much from the clip beyond a whole lot of action that involves sprints, birthday parties, lots of sex, lots of horrified facial expressions, Woodley almost running off a rocky ledge and into the swelling sea, an Elvis impersonator for some reason, and a pistol going off.

The only dialogue we hear is from Reese and a kid, who are taking a good long look at the ocean before a flurry of faces and intrigue comes in. The little girl brings up the watery expanse before them: “What do you look at in the ocean? What’s out there?" Witherspoon pauses before answering. “It’s full of life, dreams, mystery ..." "Monsters?" "Who knows what lies out there beneath the surface?”

We don't just yet, but Big Little Lies looks like it'll give some us some compelling answers.
