Lady Gaga Applauds The Women Speaking Out About Donald Trump’s Alleged Abuse

‘For me, it was like re-living it all over again’

Lady Gaga has spoken out about the latest Donald Trump headlines.

Thursday night (October 13), the singer added her voice to the ongoing discussion regarding the sexual assault allegations against the Republican presidential nominee. For Gaga, hearing the alleged survivors come forward with their stories was painful but necessary.

"Trump's words at debate sent abused women into a panic," Gaga tweeted, referring to the last presidential debate. Trump addressed the leaked tape that revealed he once bragged about grabbing women without consent, but dismissed the recorded comments as "locker room talk."

Since that debate, multiple women have come forward with stories alleging that Trump groped or kissed them without consent. The hashtag #WhyWomenDontReport emerged as survivors explained why Trump's accusers might not have come forward with their stories sooner.

"For me, it was like re-living it all over again," Gaga tweeted in reference to her own history of abuse. "I applaud these women."

Gaga has been an outspoken supporter of survivors ever since she came out as a sexual abuse survivor herself. Earlier this year, she surrounded herself with dozens of survivors for her performance of "Til It Happens to You" at the Grammys.

Though the news has weighed heavy on her lately, Gaga did find a silver lining to the accusations coming to light: "Maybe the world will recognize the normalization of male sexual violence."
