Hollywood’s biggest actors are raiding their girlfriends’ nail polish stash for a great cause. Zac Efron, the Hemsworth brothers, and more celebs are painting a single, solitary nail for the Polished Man project, which fights to end child violence.
Like the insanely viral ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, you nominate friends to join in after you’ve participated. On Monday, October 10, Chris Hemsworth nominated Zac, Liam, Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, and Tom Hiddleston.
Zac and Liam stepped up to the plate on Tuesday, sharing selfies of their fancy fingers and nominating their friends to do the same.
Polished Man has been a thing for several years now. Every October, the project holds a fundraiser for trauma recovery programs for children. It was all inspired by a young girl named Thea, who was physically and sexually abused at an orphanage. When the nonprofit organization’s CEO met Thea in Cambodia, she painted his fingernails for fun; after he went home, he started painting one nail to remember her.
As of now, they’ve raised over $500,000 — a figure that’ll undoubtedly grow by the end of the month. Let’s all put our perfectly polished hands together for a round of applause.
