Chance The Rapper Is 1,000% Not Wearing Overalls To The Next VMAs

BUT WHAT WILL MARIO AND LUIGI THINK?!

He's been a fan of his Super Mario–worthy look since the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, but Chance The Rapper will not be breaking out the overalls for next year's ceremony. Or any big awards show, actually.

For Billboard's cover story on Best New Artist Grammy hopefuls, Chance — along with country reckoner Maren Morris and R&B force Alessia Cara — talked about politics, identity, and awards show attire, as the trio stand a good shot at collecting a bunch of statues between here and the spring of 2017. Morris has no idea what she's wearing. Cara says she'll go all out. And Chance? He's going with a suit if he's heading to the 2017 Grammys.

"Somebody told me that the VMAs was more lax, so I wore overalls," he tells Billboard. "Then I got there and there were people in suits, so I was fucking pissed. I’m not going to make that mistake again. All award shows, next year’s VMAs — straight suit."

There you have it: Chance is hitting that red carpet prepared. (Unless Beyoncé sneaks up on him again. Then all bets are off.)
