Britney Spears Was Unimpressed With Ariana Grande’s Impersonation Of Her

‘I’ve heard better’

Oops... Ariana Grande’s impression of Britney Spears failed to impress the veteran pop princess.

Britney admitted as much during an interview with KISS FM UK, when the radio station played her a clip of Ari on Saturday Night Live. As you may remember, Ari hosted the comedy show back in March, where she starred in a sketch that saw her take on Britney’s “...Baby One More Time,” as well as hits by Rihanna, Shakira, and Celine Dion.

“That’s funny. That’s really funny, wow,” Britney reacted. “She’s good. She’s very good. I love her voice ... her real voice.”

As for the breathy impression itself, though, the “Make Me” singer ultimately admitted: “I've heard better.”

It’s not quite the dis some gossip sites may have you believe it is (she did compliment Ari, after all!), but we can’t help but wonder who Britney thinks has impersonated her more accurately. Take a look at six celebs who’ve taken on Ms. Spears's songs below and decide for yourself (we have our pick):

  1. Christina Aguilera

Britney’s onetime rival hilariously sang “This Little Piggy” to the tune of “...Baby One More Time” during an appearance on The Tonight Show.

  2. Chloe Bennet

The Agents of SHIELD actress started out by dissing Britney’s voice as sounding like a “constipated girl from Orange County going to Coachella,” then proceeded to crush her rendition of “Oops! ... I Did It Again.”

  3. Anne Hathaway

Ever the thespian, Hathaway looked very serious about her Britney impression on The Graham Norton Show, which thoroughly amused fellow guest Tom Hiddleston.

  4. Nicole Scherzinger

“It’s all in the eyes,” the former Pussycat Dolls singer advised, singing a very Britney-esque rendition of “Toxic” with relative ease.

  5. JoJo

The Mad Love songstress channeled Britney to croon “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” which was random, but not totally off either.

  6. Tori Kelly

Easily the best of the bunch (in this writer’s/Britney fan’s eyes), Tori tackled “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman” like a goddamn pro. SO SPOT-ON!
