The world lost a gentle giant on May 22, 2016, and the collective internet's cold heart was miraculously warmed after learning his fate. Hodor from Game of Thrones died thanks to Bran by holding the door closed from wights so his friends could escape to safety.

Everyone mourned Hodor's loss, including actor Kristian Nairn himself. People made stickers of Hodor's face and put them in elevators, offices, and anywhere else a door can be found. Since that gut-wrenching episode, we've all slowly moved on to more tragic stories, such as Brangelina's demise or the 2016 presidential election. The Hodor mourners shut the door, dropped the memes, and left Westeros behind — all except for one.

On Monday (September 26), Nairn shared a pic on Instagram proving his mom hasn't let all this Hodor business go just yet. She probably turned off the TV right before the wights attacked him, because the next part's simply too heartbreaking to bear. "Really, Mum??? Et tu, Brute?" Nairn captioned under the photo of blocks spelling out Hodor's name literally holding a door. "Hahahaha 😍." R.I.P. Hodor, forever in our hearts.
