Sia Will Steer The Soundtrack Of Rooney Mara’s Pop Star Movie

The 'Cheap Thrills' singer is stepping up her audio/visual game for 'Vox Lux'

Sia has a flair for the dramatic as we've seen with her incredible live show and cinematic music videos, but she's about to kick it up a notch with her first huge movie project.

Both Sia and Rooney Mara are now attached to Vox Lux, the full-length feature following 15 years of a pop star's life that's set to begin filming in February of 2017.

Brady Corbet — an actor/director best known for his onscreen work in staggering dramas like Melancholia and Martha Marcy May Marlene — will direct, and Sia's responsibilities involve writing a slate of new music for the film's soundtrack.

If anything, Vox Lux is the perfect project for her based on "Cheap Thrills," "Elastic Heart" and more: Her music is suited for the big screen treatment, as is the incredible live presentation of it, and it should make for an ideal pairing to Mara's intense excellence.

It's definitely a change of pace from the My Little Pony movie she's lending her voice and likeness to, but hey: Sia's making a serious play for the movies, and it makes sense in the best way possible.
