Lady Gaga’s whirlwind music video for “Perfect Illusion” is here.

The new visual takes a decidedly different direction for the singer, whose videos are known for using elaborate sets and prosthetics. Instead of turning herself into another monster, Gaga just rocks out in the middle of a desert.

OK, she’s still kind of a monster — her eyes roll back as she’s moshing with the crowd, and at one point she almost rips the head off of her drummer, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.

Producers Mark Ronson and Bloodpop also show up to jam at the demonic gig, though none of them can outshine Gaga’s amazing silver cutoff shorts.
