'Beauty And The Beast' Cast Reunites, Sings Iconic Theme 25 Years Later

There's something there that wasn't there before — a.k.a. my tears

While the stars of your favorite television shows were winning Emmys and toppling the patriarchy in Los Angeles Sunday night, the voice cast of one of Disney's most beloved tales, Beauty and the Beast, gathered in New York City — 25 years after the film was screened as an unfinished work at the New York Film Festival.

The anniversary brought together members of the original voice cast — including Paige O’Hara (Belle), Robby Benson (Beast), Richard White (Gaston), and Angela Lansbury (Mrs. Potts) — as well as producer Don Hahn for a special screening of the animated classic. Of course the celebratory occasion wasn't complete without a few enchanting performances from famed composer Alan Menken, who performed a medley of his Disney hits, including songs from Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast.

But the truly magical moment happened when Lansbury joined Menken on stage to sing the film's iconic title song and concluded her performance with, “Run along and get in the cupboard, Chip.” There's something there that wasn't there before — a.k.a. my tears, because now I am an emotional mess who needs to go listen to my Disney playlist on Spotify.
