Three Cheers For Twenty One Pilots’ My Chemical Romance Cover

Rejoin ‘The Black Parade’ with this new take on ‘Cancer’

You won’t be OK after hearing Twenty One Pilots cover My Chemical Romance. (Sorry, not sorry.)

A decade after The Black Parade dropped, the “Heathens” duo released their take on MCR’s “Cancer” on Wednesday afternoon (September 14). An ode to death and everything it leaves behind, the song remains just as slow and somber as you remember it.

Twenty One Pilots’ version adds repetition and background vocals to the tune, while their lyric video complements it with black-and-white and hot-pink illustrations. It’s so spot-on, you might even be inspired to bust out your extra-black eyeliner.

Three cheers to playing this on repeat until MCR’s 10th anniversary edition of The Black Parade drops September 23.
