While we wait in increasingly intense levels of impatience for Netflix’s Gilmore Girls revival, we now have a major taste of what’s to come. Benevolent showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino has generously shared the first page of the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life script with Entertainment Weekly. And don’t worry, GG fanatics — it looks great.
The first episode, entitled “Winter,” opens in the iconic Stars Hollow gazebo and features a classically hilarious conversation between Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham). There are no major spoilers; just our favorite mother-daughter duo’s trademark banter and pop-culture witticisms (they reference everything from Les Misérables to Gwyneth Paltrow’s oft-mocked lifestyle brand, Goop). Take a look:
Ah ... you can practically hear Graham delivering the lines, never once pausing for a breath.
While there’s not that much to latch on to here, there are a few certain noteworthy details. First, Lorelai seems to still live in Stars Hollow and is still obsessed with coffee (naturally). Second, Rory has arrived from somewhere seven hours away (which is about the time it takes to get to London; just sayin’). Third, Lorelai’s holding a paper bag, the contents of which may or may not be inconsequential. Is it a pastry from Luke’s? Is she even still with Luke? Maybe it’s something from Al’s Pancake World instead? Or is it a pregnancy test, based on what some fans have theorized?
We’ll find out soon enough — all four episodes of Gilmore Girls: A Day in the Life premiere on Netflix on November 25.
