It wasn’t an illusion, Little Monsters — Lady Gaga’s new era is upon us. After announcing her new single “Perfect Illusion” last month, Gaga is back with more goodies to grasp on to: the song’s release date and badass cover art.
“Perfect Illusion,” which marks Gaga’s first solo release in nearly three years, will arrive this Friday, September 9. She announced the date with a stunning photo of her performing for a riled-up crowd in a smoky room. She’s perched atop someone’s shoulders, her head leaned back and her mouth open as she swings a microphone overhead (a true rock star moment, if ever there was one).
The singer also unveiled the single’s cover art, which shows her rocking cut-off jean shorts and singing (or maybe screaming) into a microphone as her hair whips around her face.
Gaga first announced “Perfect Illusion” in August and also confirmed the track’s contributors: Mark Ronson, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, and producer Blood Pop, who’s crafted hits for Justin Bieber, Grimes, and more. Gaga also recently dropped a few hints about “Perfect Illusion”, saying it’s “our sweet, simply, ragey way” of depicting “modern ecstasy.”
Get ready to soak up that ecstasy when “Perfect Illusion” arrives later this week.
