Demi Lovato Floors Her Crowd With A Stirring Adele Cover

She did the British belter justice with her take on ‘When We Were Young’

It takes a ton of confidence — not to mention top-tier vocal ability — to even try to cover an Adele song. Thankfully, Demi Lovato’s got both in spades, and she utterly nailed one of the most moving ballads off 25 at a recent show.

On September 2 in Cleveland, Lovato tried her hand at “When We Were Young,” a mature, retrospective look back at relationships that have long since seen their expiration date.

It was an interesting choice and tempo change from Lovato’s bombastic live show, but it fit into her Future Now tour set beautifully, showcasing her range and reaching the rafters with high notes that just wouldn’t quit.

If there was a wine glass anywhere near her at the 3:42 mark, it’s probably a pile of shards right now. R.I.P. wine glass.

She then tweeted that she was heading into the studio to work on new music, so who knows: Maybe we’ll get more of the soaring ballad sort on her next album. Good thing we’ve got “Body Say” to hold us over in the meantime.
