The Kanye Effect Is Real — Teyana Taylor Just Scored Two TV Gigs

This girl is on 🔥

The Kanye West effect is so real, folks, and Teyana Taylor is all the proof you need.

Fresh off her sweaty star turn in West’s “Fade” music video, Taylor has booked not one, but two new VH1 gigs. [Note: VH1 and MTV News are both owned by Viacom.]

Taylor will play a rapper in the network’s upcoming hip-hop drama The Breaks, an adaptation of the successful TV movie of the same name that aired in January. The series follows three friends pursuing their dreams of hip-hop stardom in New York City in the early ‘90s. Before that, Taylor will join VH1’s Hip Hop Squares, an Ice Cube-produced game show in which celebrity contestants test their pop culture savviness. Hip Hop Squares airs later this fall, while The Breaks is set to premiere in 2017.

Taylor first appeared on VH1 earlier this year, when she performed during the Hip Hop Honors tribute to Lil Kim. She was previously featured on MTV’s My Super Sweet Sixteen and as a judge on America’s Best Dance Crew. But she landed her biggest role yet with “Fade,” which debuted at Sunday night's VMAs... and which is probably just the first time we'll see her in a 'Ye video, if her recent Instagram posts are any indication. Stay tuned: this girl's on fire right now.
