Ariana Grande Confirms That Yep, ‘Side To Side’ Is About Sex
Lena Dunham learned something new today: Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s new single, “Side to Side,” is all about fucking. Or as Dunham’s longtime boyfriend Jack Antonoff oh-so-delicately put it, “getting railed so hard you can't walk.” 😳
To which Ari responded with slew of devious emojis:
“That whole song is about riding leading to soreness,” Grande hinted to MTV News reporter Gaby Wilson on Sunday night’s (August 28) VMA white carpet. “Ride dick bicycle is the lyric, indeed.”
So in case Nicki’s guest verse — “This the new style with the fresh type of flow / Wrist icicle, ride dick bicycle / Come true yo, get you this type of blow / If you wanna Minaj, I got a tricycle” — stumped you, now you know. When she says “bicycle” and “tricycle,” she’s rapping about something a bit more risqué than your standard gym workout. (But all of these ~activities~ will make you work up a sweat!)
At the VMAs, Ari and Minaj took these euphemisms to the next level for their live “Side to Side” performance and its music video. Plenty of bicycles — yes, ACTUAL bikes — were involved, and the whole show ended with quite the bang. See for yourself:
