The Chainsmokers And Halsey Get ‘Closer’ Than Ever At The VMAs

Well, this looks cozy

The Chainsmokers brought the heat to MTV's Video Music Awards Sunday night (August 28) with their summery smash hit "Closer" — currently the No. 1 song in the country, no big. Halsey joined them on stage, belting out her guest verse and chorus duet with Andrew Taggart, one half of the EDM duo.

It was both artists' first VMA performance and The Chainsmokers' first time ever at the show. They were nominated for Best Electronic Video for "Don't Let Me Down," their hit song with Daya. (Calvin Harris, Mike Posner, 99 Souls, and Afrojack are also up for the same Moonman.) Confetti cannons went off as Halsey and Taggart got this close to smooching on stage.

It's actually the second time The Chainsmokers and Halsey performed "Closer" to a sold-out Madison Square Garden. Two weeks ago, Halsey wrapped her Badlands Tour at MSG and The Chainsmokers were her surprise guest. Later that same night, they sang the song again at Marquee New York for a small fan after-party. Clearly they've had plenty of time to get closer and closer; keep your fingers crossed for more collabs in the future.
