Lady Gaga's star continues to rise in Hollywood.
Fresh off announcing her new cookbook and forthcoming single, the pop star has landed the biggest film role of her career: the lead in Bradley Cooper's A Star Is Born remake. The role, made famous by Judy Garland in 1954 and again by Barbra Streisand in 1976, is that of a young Hollywood ingenue who falls in love with a troubled actor as his star begins to fall.
Per Deadline, Cooper, making his directorial debut, will star alongside Gaga in the movie musical as her bitter Hollywood mentor/lover. Gaga will also compose and perform new music for the film.

Gaga's career transformation from meat-dress-wearing pop star to Golden Globe–winning actress has been full of surprises, but everything about A Star Is Born feels right for Gaga. After all, it wasn't too long ago that she was a struggling singer-songwriter herself, looking for someone to give her a chance at stardom.
Not to mention, the girl sure knows how to make one hell of a comeback. A new single, a cookbook, a starring role on the sixth season of American Horror Story, and a major feature film? The Gagaissance is upon us.
