Taylor Swift Donates $1 Million To Louisiana Flood Relief

‘Send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time’

Taylor Swift has sent much more than thoughts and prayers to Louisiana.

On Tuesday (August 16), the singer announced she had made a $1 million donation to the state in the wake of massively destructive flooding.

The recent floods are among the worst in Louisiana's history. So far, 11 people have died as a result of the natural disaster, which some are calling the worst since Hurricane Sandy. More than 40,000 homes have been damaged and over 30,000 people have been rescued from the waters since Friday (August 12). Rescue efforts are ongoing.

"We began the 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home. The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking," Swift said in a statement.

"I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time," she added.
