Frances Bean Cobain Makes Her Musical Debut With An All-Too-Brief Jimmy Eat World Cover

The first daughter of grunge shines in this short but sweet video

Thus far, Frances Bean Cobain has mostly shied away from the spotlight. But the 23-year-old daughter of Courtney Love and the late Kurt Cobain has finally decided to show the world that she may have inherited her parents’s legendary musical talents.

In a charming new Instagram video, Frances Bean flashes back to the early aughts to cover Jimmy Eat World’s karaoke mainstay “The Middle”. Donning a Fred Flintstone shirt, she says a quick hello before launching into the song’s upbeat, pep talk-like chorus. Sadly, it’s an all-too-brief cover, but her warm vocals and soft guitar strumming prove a future in music isn't totally implausible. It's in her blood, after all.

Frances Bean’s cover even caught her mom’s seal of approval — Love reposted the video and wrote, “I know your father is very proud of this as am I baby. I love you to the moon and back. ❤️❤️ #proudmommy.”

Frances Bean technically made her musical debut in 2010, when she sang on “My Space”, a track from Evelyn Evelyn's 2010 album. Her vocals on the song were mixed together with more than a dozen other artists, though, meaning her Instagram cover is the first time we’ve heard her voice solo and stripped down. No word yet on whether or not Frances Bean plans to foray into music, but from the brief snippet, we’re excited to hear more.
