Kehlani Searches For A Ride-Or-Die ‘Gangsta’ On New Suicide Squad Song

This one will send chills up your spine

The already-stacked Suicide Squad soundtrack has gotten a chilling shot of sultriness, thanks to a new contribution from Kehlani.

The R&B singer’s “Gangsta” premiered today on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show, where Suicide Squad director David Ayer called in to chat about the relationship between the song and the film. He described the seductive slow-burner as having a “raw, broken yet strong, haunting quality to it,” and he’s right: Kehlani’s voice is so gorgeously eerie as she sings about searching for a gangsta to ride or die with her. Hmmm... sounds kind of like Harley Quinn and The Joker, huh?

The Suicide Squad soundtrack drops this Friday (the same day the movie is released in theaters), and features new songs by Grimes, Eminem, Kevin Gates, and more.

Meanwhile, “Gangsta” marks Kehlani’s third song in three weeks — she also released “CRZY” and “Distraction” last month, which hopefully means her long-awaited debut album will arrive soon.
