A few weeks ago, we saw a titillating teaser for Fifth Harmony’s tribute to Destiny’s Child on ABC’s Greatest Hits. The performance finally aired in full last night (July 28), and suffice to say, the wait was so, so “worth it.”
The fierce five tackled a few of Destiny’s Child most beloved hits, opening with a harmony-heavy rendition of “Say My Name,” transitioning into “Independent Women, Pt. 1,” sprinkling in the roll call from “Bootylicious,” and then finishing with a triumphant take on “Survivor.” They even looked the part of a Y2K girl group in matching ’90s-esque bandannas and blue jeans.
In a pre-performance interview, 5H — who recently celebrated their four-year-anniversary — spoke about how Destiny’s Child influenced them. “They’ve inspired us. We speak about them literally all the time,” they said. “Every interview they’re like ‘Who are your biggest inspirations?’ We’re like ‘Destiny’s Child.’”
