Marnie Piper Is Returning To 'Halloweentown' And Bringing Magical Surprises

Plus, actress Kimberly J. Brown reveals what became of Benny the cab driver

Halloween may be three months away, but Halloweentown is eternal. Kimberly J. Brown, star of the first three films in the DCOM franchise (we don’t speak of the fourth one), made a ~magical~ announcement on both her YouTube channel and website Wednesday (July 27): She is proudly returning to St. Helens, Oregon, where Halloweentown was filmed, for the annual Spirit of Halloweentown festival.

Brown, a.k.a. everyone’s favorite witch Marnie Piper, will be returning for two days this year to light the pumpkin in the town square again and meet all the ecstatic Halloweentown fans — there were approximately 10,000 people there last year. For 2016, Brown wants to step up her game and is adding some fun activities to the lineup, including a costume contest of which she is a judge. There may be a photo op in front of Benny the Skeleton’s cab, but Brown confessed Benny himself might not be there, since he apparently transferred to Uber. Womp womp.

But perhaps the coolest new thing happening this year is that Brown’s going to do a reading from her new Halloween book. (Marnie Piper wrote about a book involving Halloween? Shut up and take my money!) Brown is also partnering up with GoGloWin to make the celebration extra special and safer for nighttime activities — even witches and warlocks can trip over things in the dark.

The Spirit of Halloweentown festival this year is October 8-9. For more information, check out the fest’s Facebook page. And remember: πMagic is really very simple. All you’ve got to do is want something and then let yourself have it.”
