Taking home the title of Fandom of the Year is no easy feat. A fandom must have steadfast determination, unwavering dedication, and a willingness to sacrifice sleep in the name of voting. While many brought their A-game this year to the 5 rounds of social voting that took place, one clear winner came out on top. Teen Wolf is the 2016 winner of Fandom of the Year.
A full moon must have been shining over the 2016 MTV Fandom Awards, because from start to finish, Teen Wolf seemed to dominate. With its star Tyler Posey taking up the hosting post for the second year in a row, Holland Roden presenting, and potential couple “Stydia” earning themselves a nom for Ship of the Year, we were all feeling a little wolfy. So it was no surprise when Teen Wolf earned the crown of Fandom of the Year before a crowd of hardcore admirers who voted tirelessly for them.
It was a moment that will go down in Fandom history.
Though Teen Wolf will not return until this fall for its final *sobs* season, their win has only reminded us of how excited we are for season 6. So what do we know about the season so far? Season 5 finally found Scott as a single man for the first time in like, ever. But will Scott actually remain a lone-wolf, or will he jump into another relationship faster than we can blink? Then there’s Stydia: According to executive producer Jeff Davis, season 6 will be their time. Though he remained mostly hush-hush about the deets, Davis does admit that the upcoming season will make Stiles + Lydia shippers very happy. After seeing the season 6 trailer though, I have my doubts. If the Wild Hunt really is pursuing Stiles and erases him from existence, how will he and Lydia ever be together? Unless she's the one to save him.
The anticipation is killing me.
But as we desperately wait for Teen Wolf to grace our television screens once more, we can at least take solace in the fact that the fandom world is just as obsessed as we are.
