Damaging Distraction: Will Jenna's Problems With Zach Keep Her From The Challenge Finale?

The uncertain state of the couple's relationship has left her frazzled

At the get-go, it seemed like there’d be no beating Jenna on Rivals III: She and partner Vince won the first mission, “Give Me Some Slack,” by a landslide. On tonight’s Challenge episode, though, a familiar face (or voice…) exposed a chink in Jenna’s armor, and suddenly, she and Vince found themselves at risk.

Jenna, who’s been dating Real World: San Diego export Zach since the two competitors appeared together on Battle of the Exes II, couldn’t seem to get in touch with her beloved. Phone calls went unanswered, emails went ignored and when Jenna finally did get in contact with the former Battle of the Seasons champ, he gave her a shoulder cold enough to incite the shivers.

“I just feel like you’re not caring,” Jenna lamented to the other end of the line.

“You’re pissing me off,” Zach responded before sighing and leaving the line silent. “This is a very uncomfortable conversation right now.”

Jenna resigned herself to the fact that nothing would be solved over a phone line, hung up and broke down.

“I have no idea where we stand, my head’s all over the place, I wanna know what’s going on,” Jenna whimpered. “It’s hard to sleep, it’s hard to do challenges. This is my real life outside of this, so I’m screwing it up being here.”

“This game is hard enough as it is, but when you have somebody at home who’s not being supportive of what you’re doing, it’s impossible to think about anything else,” Sarah, Jenna’s closest ally, added.

And while Jenna managed to pick herself up for the next challenge -- “Bridging The Gap” -- it was clear she wasn’t her typical self. She and Vince struggled through the series of mini-games and avoided a last-place finish (and subsequent trip to The Jungle) by the skin of their teeth.

“I’m trying to keep my head out of everything, but Zach’s stuck right there, and it’s not gonna go away until I get to talk to him,” Jenna insisted.

Thankfully, Sarah and Bananas won the game and spared Jenna and Vince from the penultimate Jungle. But with one elimination still looming, there’s no guarantee Jenna will advance to her third-straight finale appearance.

What do you think: Are Jenna and Vince strong enough to compensate for Jenna’s distraction, or is it possible the rivals will fall to pieces at the eleventh hour? Sound off, and be sure to see which three teams advance to the Rivals III finals next Wednesday at 10/9c!
