Joey Fatone Betrays NSYNC By Performing ‘Bye Bye Bye’ With 98 Degrees

Complete with the music video's original choreography!

Look, I love NSYNC as much as the next boy-band devotee, but let’s be perfectly frank about one thing: When it came to divvying up solos, they may as well have been a two-man band. Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez got all the mic time, and as for Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Joey Fatone? Well... they were at least there to round out the choreography and contribute to the surplus of ridiculous ’90s boy-band fashions (long live Chris’s weird alien-like hair).

That’s why it’s great news that one of NSYNC’s own, proud new hot dog stand owner Fatone, recently got a chance to shine while performing the group’s 2000 smash single “Bye Bye Bye.” Only this time around, the four guys performing at his side were fellow vintage heartthrobs 98 Degrees.

Fatone joined the group during their My2K Tour stop in West Palm Beach, Florida, over the weekend, looking every bit the boy bander in coordinating camo pants and a black vest. They even busted out the original choreography from the song’s music video — you know, that trio of fist pumps followed by that iconic “bye bye bye” arm move.

All in all, it’s a great performance. Really, it is! But, uh, doesn’t this mean Fatone betrayed the unofficial doctrine of ’90s pop music that you can only pledge your life to one single boy band?! BETRAYAL, I tell you. I’m sure Justin Timberlake would do something about it, but he’s probably too busy having a successful solo career to care. Zing!
