Tim Westwood has dipped back into the archives and dug up another gem for his Throwback Thursday series.
For his latest, he unearths a Jay Z freestyle that he says is from 2000, though based on what Hov says at the end -- he's promoting Vol 2... Hard Knock Life, which dropped in September 1998 -- it's more likely that this happened sometime in the first half of 1999.
He's also packaged it as an "unreleased" offering, and though it may be in this form, a bunch of Jay's rhyme's have trickled out on other freestyles or songs over the years, including DMX's "Blackout" -- from his Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood album, which dropped in December 1998 and adds to skepticism about the 2000 date stamp -- and a DJ Clue freestyle.
Whatever. No need to stress about whether we've heard some of the rhymes before or what exact year this was recorded. Let's just enjoy it.
