If You Like ‘One Dance,’ You’ll Love Brian Fresco And Chance The Rapper’s ‘Higher’

The perfect soundtrack for hot summer nights

“6God” Drake may have laid the early claim for Summer ’16, but it’s the Chicago boys who keep steadily heating things up.

Following new projects from Chance the Rapper, Vic Mensa, and Joey Purp, the next release via Chi-town collective Save Money comes from Brian Fresco. His upcoming mixtape Casanova arrives July 5, and on Tuesday, he shared a promising taste of what’s to come with “Higher.”

The dancehall-indebted track sounds like a punchier, more soulful “One Dance,” featuring an irresistible hook from electro-pop duo Blue Hawaii: “Say you want me, yeah / That you don’t need nobody else.” Chance the Rapper also makes a predictably playful cameo that finds him trying to convince a feisty girl to hang with him. “You could skip a couple steps / You could steal a couple bases / A couple friends, a couple chasers / You don’t need nobody, baby,” he gleefully raps over dreamlike production, with a smile you can hear through your headphones.

Get into “Higher” below, which should definitely become your new go-to for sweltering summer nights.
