'Speed Dial,’ Episode 7: Leave Whitney Houston Alone

Also discussed: Maybe Spike Lee and Tyler Perry aren’t so different after all

I know when that hotline bling — that can only mean Ira Madison III and Doreen St. Félix are back with the next episode of "Speed Dial with Ira and Doreen," MTV’s bicoastal podcast about music, pop culture, sex, and race.

Ira’s back in L.A. this week, in time for the L.A. Pride parade. He and Doreen talk about how the events of the day, in light of the Orlando massacre, show the resilience and joy of people of color within the LGBTQ community. Next, the two put Bobby Brown, Cissy Houston, and everybody else who deigns to disturb the legacy of Whitney Houston on notice. Finally, following Ira’s piece on the 25th anniversary of Jungle Fever, he and Doreen talk (lovingly!) about the corniness of Spike Lee’s '90s filmography.
