Not even a young pop star as seemingly suave as Nick Jonas is immune to the pressure of meeting his favorite celeb. Case in point: When he met Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke (for the second time, no less), he turned into a flustered fan who rambled on and awkwardly admitted to stalking her on social media. Stars -- they’re just like us!
On Thursday morning, Clarke appeared on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show to promote her new rom-com, Me Before You. Jonas was in the building as well, and host Nick Grimshaw invited him into the studio, introducing him as a major fan of both Game of Thrones and Clarke herself.
The “Close” singer recalled the first time he and Clarke met at an Oscars after-party, where he revealed his obsession with her Instagram.
“It wasn’t like ‘I’m a fan of your show.’ Actually, that was a part of it, but I was like, ‘I’m also a fan of your Instagram,’ which I don’t know if that’s a weird thing to say,” Jonas said of their first meeting. “That was maybe after one or two cocktails that I said that. I was highly embarrassed.”
Jonas’s genuine Game of Thrones fandom may actually turn into a great thing for his budding acting career, though — Clarke sweetly agreed he should audition for a role on the series, saying, “Yes! Yes! Oh my god, let’s ask them now! David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] if you’re listening ... I’ll email them. I’m going to email them now. You can ride a dragon, honey. It’s OK!”
