Watch Madonna And Stevie Wonder Bust Out The Purple In Honor Of Prince At The BBMAs

They sang a medley of two of the late icon's greatest hits

A month after Prince's passing, Madonna became the latest artist to pay tribute to the Purple One at last night’s (May 22) Billboard Music Awards.

The singer honored her fellow rebel heart with a medley of two of his most famous songs: “Nothing Compares 2 U” and “Purple Rain."

To the audience’s delight, Stevie Wonder joined Madonna onstage for the latter. A giant purple dove flapped on the screen behind them in tribute to another Prince classic, “When Doves Cry."

Madonna’s performance got a spoken introduction from Roots drummer Questlove, who described the loss of Prince perfectly: "All of us live in the land of music, and his departure from it was an earthquake," he said.
