Roots, a landmark miniseries that first aired in 1977, is getting a reboot, airing later this month. This time around, notable names like Forest Whitaker and Laurence Fishburne are leading the way, and they'll be joined by T.I..
"If you had to be a slave in the 1860s, Cyrus was the slave to be," Tip says in a preview for the show, which shows him in action (and accent) as the character, kicking, shooting and laughing his way through the clip. "Roots opens the floor for a much-needed discussion -- open dialogue about how we got here, how we improved, how we evolve."
Meanwhile, as he continues to pad his acting resume, T.I. is still fully engulfed in his music career. On Monday morning, he dropped his new single, "Dope," which samples Aaliyah, features Marsha Ambrosius and is produced by Dr. Dre. You can check out the video below.
