With Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart in the lead roles for the upcoming Jumanji reboot, it seemed there was no room left for big, fiery, comedic personalities. But the cast is now turning into what Johnson calls a “Jumanji Breakfast Club,” having added another huge name to its roster: "JACK (mf'n) BLACK."
Johnson enthusiastically announced the news on Instagram Wednesday evening, writing, “Been a big fan of his work over the years. A brilliant actor who I'm confident will turn in a performance of a lifetime for JUMANJI. Jack brings that rare balance of cool with funny and edge with childlike joy.”
Black’s addition to the Jumanji cast will reunite him with director Jake Kasdan, whom he worked with on 2002’s Orange County. It will also find him once again starring in a fantasy book adaptation, after playing R.L. Stein in last year’s Goosebumps.
Earlier this week, Johnson hinted that the Jumanji reboot will revolve around a cast of five characters, as opposed to the trio in the original 1995 flick. He further revealed on Wednesday that there are two roles left to fill: “one bad ass girl” and “one semi-sorta bad ass dude.” Stay tuned to find out what else The Rock has cookin’.
