'Star Wars' Spin-Off Finds Its Young Han Solo

So, who's this scruffy-looking nerfherder?

After a long, arduous search, Disney and Lucasfilm have finally chosen their young, scruffy-looking nerfherder. Alden Ehrenreich has nabbed the coveted role of young Han Solo in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Star Wars anthology feature, Variety reports.

Ehrenreich, 26, pulled off a memorable performance earlier this year with his charismatic, scene-stealing turn as western actor Hobie Doyle in Hail, Caesar!. If you're not taken with Ehrenreich after this hilarious exchange with Ralph Fiennes, then your heart has probably been frozen in carbonite.

Details about Lord and Miller's Han Solo standalone film have been sparse, but here's what we do know: it takes place sometime before A New Hope and Chewbacca will star alongside the smooth-talking smuggler. So the untitled Han Solo film will presumably follow Han and Chewie on adventures before they docked the Millennium Falcon on Tattooine.

Plus, we also know Ehrenreich looks great in hats. The same better be said for vests.

Pretty much every white dude in Hollywood between the ages of 16 and 29 auditioned for the beloved role, originally portrayed by Harrison Ford in George Lucas's OG Star Wars universe. Here's hoping Ehrenreich can pull off that trademark snark.

If nothing else, at least all of that gunslinging training in Hail, Caesar! will prep him for shooting first. Because Han shot first -- get it?
