Just because most of us haven't worn something from Aéropostale since 2006 doesn't mean it still doesn't have a special place in our hearts. Which is why it's so difficult to hear the announcement that the once-favorite mall brand is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company plans to close 113 stores in the United States as well as 41 stores in Canada in an attempt to "achieve long-term financial stability," CNN reports.
The announcement doesn't exactly come as a surprise. Back in April, the New York Stock Exchange delisted the company after the price of its shares dipped to 15 cents. That is literally pocket change.
To honor Aéro's legacy, please join me in putting on a too-tight ribbed tank and a pair of monkey-adorned pajama bottoms.
