Is Selena Gomez’s New Hip Tattoo Real Or Fake?

And is it really a My Little Pony?!

At Monday night’s Met Gala, Selena Gomez stunned in a Louis Vuitton dress, lace-up booties, and a sleek, sky-high ponytail. But you know what? Forget about that ensemble for now... because we need to talk about her post-Gala look.

After the high-fashion affair, paparazzi caught the 23-year-old in more casual garb, including low-slung boyfriend jeans that offered a peep at what appears to be a new tattoo.

Naturally, fans have been speculating whether or not the colorful new ink is a fresh addition or whether she’s simply kept it hidden. It wouldn’t be surprising to see her collection grow -- this would be Sel’s eighth tattoo, and she’s admitted before that she’s “addicted” to getting inked.

On the other hand, she’s usually shared pics of her new ink on Instagram, so it’s suspicious that she’s kept mum about this one. We also know Selena’s a new proponent of the temporary tattoo craze -- a couple weeks ago, she teased her Revival Tour merch, which includes a collection of nonpermanent ink. Could this simply be another sneak peek at her new designs?

Besides the debate over whether Sel’s hip ink is real or permanent, we’re also left wondering exactly what it is. The most popular theory among fans? DJ Pon-3, aka Vinyl Scratch, a character from My Little Pony. Yep, really.

We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for more clues about this mystery ink -- stay tuned.
