On April 22, Shawn Mendes played what he calls his “biggest show ever”: a sold-out performance for 8,000 people in Oslo, Norway. Now, in the first episode of his “World Tour Diaries” -- which premiered Monday on Billboard -- we get to see Shawn before and after his massive night onstage.
To no one’s surprise, the 17-year-old was met with roars from the crowd the second he appeared in the spotlight. And afterward, as the camera caught him hugging and thanking his team, he knew he’d nailed it: “Yeah, I feel good... I gave that all I got.” The black-and-white video also shows Shawn practicing in his hotel room, meeting fans, and talking through his nerves backstage, giving fans an intimate look at what he’s been up to overseas.
Shawn’s world tour wraps up in Europe next week before hitting North America in July. Besides his busy touring schedule, the singer-songwriter revealed in a radio interview in Oslo last week that he’s putting the finishing touches on his sophomore album, which is expected to arrive this fall. “After we finish in Europe, we’re going to head to America to do the big American tour, and then release a new single and the new album in September,” he said.
