Beyoncé kicked off her Formation tour in Miami last night (April 27), and it seems that everything’s OK in paradise again.
Less than a week after the release of her latest visual album, Lemonade, the singer took the stage at Marlins Park to share the new songs with the south Floridian chapter of the Beyhive. She also revealed which of the album’s new tracks is her favorite: the gorgeous ballad “All Night,” which closes the record’s narrative on a note of love and reconciliation.
Lemonade is all about pain and infidelity, but “All Night” gives it a hopeful ending. Beyoncé also dedicated her 2008 song “Halo” to her husband Jay Z, who attended last night’s concert but didn’t appear onstage.
The tour kickoff included a tribute to Prince in the form of a “Purple Rain” sing-along. And naturally, Beyoncé led the crowd in a chorus of “I slay” during “Formation" while wearing an outrageously wide-brimmed black hat.
The Formation World Tour will run for 40 more dates through August 3.
