11 Of Doris Roberts’s Most Memorable Moments On Lizzie McGuire

Gordo's grandma was definitely the coolest one out there

Doris Roberts, who died on Monday (April 17), was best known for her role as the sassy and sarcastic Marie Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond. But millennials also know her as Gordo's hippie grandmother, Ruth, on Lizzie McGuire.

Jake Thomas (Matt McGuire) uploaded a video to Instagram of bloopers from Roberts's episode, adding the caption, "RIP Doris Roberts. It was a pleasure working with her."

Roberts guest-starred on the Season 2 episode "Grand Ole' Grandma," where her character realized that her new lifestyle changes were upsetting Gordo (Adam Lamberg) because he didn't feel like she was his grandmother anymore. Even though she was only on for one episode, she was definitely a memorable character.

  1. For starters, she preferred to go by a different name than Ruth.
