The Birth Of A Nation Trailer Is Here, And Damn, It's Powerful

Prepare yourselves

A teaser trailer for Sundance Film Festival sensation The Birth of a Nation has just been released (April 15), and once you see it, you'll understand why it has the potential to be the most moving film of the year.

The movie, written, directed, and starring Nate Parker tells the true story of Nat Turner, who, in 1835, led the most successful slave rebellion in modern history while living as an enslaved man in Southampton County, Virginia.

The stirring film also stars Gabrielle Union, Aja Naomi King, Aunjanue Ellis, and Armie Hammer, and received $17.5 million from Fox Searchlight for global rights -- the biggest in Sundance history.

Birth of a Nation also had Oscar buzz all the way back in January when it was shown at the festival and also reportedly received three separate standing ovations -- one before the film even started.

Let's all prepare ourselves for a roller coaster of emotions when the film is finally released nationwide on October 7.
