Thor may be a superhero, primed to take on even the most precarious situations, but that's not always the case for the man who plays him, Chris Hemsworth. Stopping by Jimmy Kimmel Live Thursday (April 14), the The Huntsman: Winter's War actor revealed to the host his near-death experience in the Himalayan mountains.
While vacationing with his wife, Elsa Pataky, Hemsworth almost succumbed to altitude depression — which is like altitude sickness. Despite spending days getting his body acclimated to the various oxygen levels, Hemsworth "slowly, honestly, started to lose [his] mind."
At 4,000 meters above sea level, the local guards took one look at Hemsworth, who was having difficulty breathing, and demanded he be removed from the mountain immediately. "But apparently, the oxygen in my lungs, the next stage was oxygen in my brain, and then good night," the actor ominously revealed to Kimmel. Watch the full clip below.
