Once upon a time (2006, to be exact) Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus were a bonafide Young Hollywood power couple. And while their fling was seemingly adorable from the outside, Nick recently revealed that it didn’t get off to the smoothest start.

During a segment on BBC Radio 1 on Wednesday morning, Nick recalled his painfully awkward first kiss with Miley.

“The first person I kissed was Miley Cyrus and I kissed her outside of California Pizza Kitchen in Hollywood -- very romantic,” he said, laughing. “I’d just had a pizza that had onions all over it. I’m sure that my breath smelled terrible.”

Asked by host Nick Grimshaw if Miley remembers the smelly incident, Nick said, “I don’t know. I’d have to ask her. But I’m sure she does -- it was probably pretty potent.”

Nick then gamely participated in a round of “Snog, Marry, Avoid” involving Miley, his pal Demi Lovato, and actress Kate Hudson, whom he’s been romantically linked to. Citing their first kiss disaster, Nick immediately ruled Miley out and adorably picked Demi as his imagined future wifey.

"Demi and I are really good friends so I'd marry her because you want to marry your best friend -- even though it's weird to say that,” he said. “I watched her in one of these that she did and she said she'd marry me, so I have to pay it back.

"And then I guess snog Kate Hudson, right? That’s logical?”

Sure, Nick. Sure.
