Halsey's Movie Awards Performance Was Her Most Haunting Yet

She headed straight for the 'Castle'

It might be April, but winter was coming during Halsey's powerful performance at the MTV Movie Awards. The Badlands singer sang "Castle," the first track off her Badlands album that's finding new life on The Huntsman: Winter's War soundtrack, as fluffy (fake) snowflakes swirled around the stage and audience.

Huntsman stars Chris Hemsworth, and Jessica Chastain introduced Halsey to the stage for a performance that echoed the cool vibes of the movie and included a chorus and mini orchestra. For the song's TV debut, Halsey sang with a deeper, throatier voice that's a touch darker than her previous singles, "Colors," "New Americana," and "Ghost.

"I'm headed straight for the castle. They're gonna make me their queen," Halsey, dressed in a strappy white bodysuit, crooned as a ghostly white tree rose its branches to the sky behind her. No wonder this song was chosen for The Huntsman. It's the perfect tune for a twisted story about two evil sisters at war over the crown.

Halsey tells MTV News why she made the calm decision to leave Twitter:
