What Are the Real Effects Of Porn On Guys' Sex Drives?

Charlamagne discusses on 'Uncommon Sense'

On this week's Uncommon Sense, Charlamagne addresses a topic endlessly discussed (and endlessly prevalent) in popular culture: Porn. Of course, there have been numerous studies on the effects of porn on our brains, and how we can ultimately become addicted to it. But a recent TIME Magazine article goes even further, claiming that for some men, watching porn as they grew and matured made it impossible to get an erection when they were with an actual partner.

The condition is called PIED: Porn Induced Erectile Dysfunction. On tonight's episode Gabe Deem, who started a site called Reboot Nation to help young people overcome their addictions to porn, discusses his experience with Charlamagne.

"When I was 23, I got with a chick I considered extremely attractive, and my body couldn't function at all," Deem admits. "I was dependent on porn." Doing research to see what the problem could be, he found that thousands of other guys had similar stories.

Watch tonight's episode of Uncommon Sense for more of this stimulating (ahem) discussion, and be sure to catch Uncommon Sense every Friday on MTV2 at 11/10c.
