Here's What This Year's Nominees Looked Like At Their First MTV Movie Awards

Transformation Tuesday for the win

In case you live under a rock, this Sunday (April 10) is the 2016 MTV Movie Awards. It's hard to believe it's been a quarter century since the show first aired, but this year, the MTV Movie Awards will celebrate its 25th anniversary.

To commemorate this milestone, we wanted to see what the current nominees looked like at their very first Movie Awards -- and the throwback pics definitely did not disappoint. Of course, some of this year's nominees are newbies, but seriously, can you really look at too many photos of Daisy Ridley? (Short answer: No.)

The pic on the left is from 2003 and was taken at the pre-party for the Movie Awards. The middle pic is from the actual awards, where Reynolds was nominated — but lost to Eminem — for Best Breakthrough Male for National Lampoon's Van Wilder. The pic on the right (like all the rest of the ones in this article) is Reynolds today, sans his Deadpool attire.

Smith hosted the 3rd annual Movie Awards in 1994 like a MF boss. His entrance was certainly one for the books, as he was lowered to the stage, action movie-style. This year, Smith will receive the coveted Generation Award.

Damon attended the 2002 Movie Awards with some of his Ocean's Eleven squad, since he, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Casey Affleck, Bernie Mac, Scott Caan, Don Cheadle, Elliott Gould, Eddie Jemison, Shaobo Qin, and Carl Reiner were all nominated for Best On-Screen Team. They lost to Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.

In 2005 (middle pic), DiCaprio accepted his award for Best Male Performance in The Aviator via satellite, which was the second of three Movie Awards he's won over the years — the other two being Best Male Performance in 1998 for Titanic and Best WTF Moment for The Wolf of Wall Street. The pic on the left is from the MTV Rock N' Jock B-Ball Pediatric AIDS Foundation in 1992, because there's never enough BB Leo.

While not much has changed since the 2015 Movie Awards (it was only last year), let's never, ever forget that at his first Movie Awards, Michael B. Jordan rocked a plaid suit like the style icon he is.

BB Pratt (left) attended the Pre-MTV Movie Awards Beauty Buffet in 2003, and then bulked up for the 2014 Movie Awards. Last year, he was nominated for four awards for Guardians of the Galaxy: Best Male Performance, Best Shirtless Performance, Best Musical Moment, and Best Comedic Performance.

Since this year will be Vikander's first time attending the Movie Awards, we don't have any throwback pics. But we did find this adorable photo of Vikander from the Berlin Film Festival in 2011. Look how little she is!

Kendrick won Best Breakout Star for Up in the Air at the 2010 Movie Awards, and she's back this year with a Best Female Performance nomination.

Like Vikander, this will be Ridley's first time attending the Movie Awards. She's nominated for her role as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a.k.a. everyone's hero.

As with Vikander and Ridley, this'll be Baccarin's first Movie Awards. Nominated for Best Female Performance for Deadpool, we included this precious throwback pic of Baccarin circa 2002 chillin' at the Fox Television Upfront Party.

Before she was Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, Theron hung out at the 2002 Movie Awards. Two years later, she'd go on to receive her first and second Movie Awards nominations for Best Female Performance and Best Kiss for Monster.

In 2012, Lawrence won Best Female Performance for The Hunger Games, as well as Best Fight, along with costars Josh Hutcherson and Alexander Ludwig. Moreover, she was also nominated for Best Kiss and Best Cast.

The 2016 MTV Movie Awards will air on Sunday, April 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, hosted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart. See the full list of nominees right here.
