Five Years Ago, Justin Bieber Won A Movie Award And Chose Twilight Over Harry Potter

Both of these things are equally important

Two very important historical events happened on June 5, 2011 at the 20th annual MTV Movie Awards. First, Justin Bieber took home the Golden Popcorn for Best Jaw Dropping Moment, thanks to his 3-D concert documentary, Never Say Never. Second, he vouched for Stephenie Meyer's Twilight over J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter.

When MTV News correspondent Josh Horowitz asked the Purpose singer who'd win Best Picture -- The Twilight Saga: Eclipse or Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 -- he responded, "I have to choose? Twilight." 😱

He was right, by the way. Twilight was the night's big winner, with five awards including Best Picture. Watch the full behind-the-scenes clip, below.

"It feels great. I’m so blessed," Bieber said about winning Best Jaw-Dropping Moment. "I’m so glad to be back here and to have so many great fans. It’s a great night."

Speaking of dropping jaws, Bieber himself surprised, well, everyone when he showed up to the Movie Awards to begin with. He wasn't scheduled to attend, you see, but he came anyway. He casually strolled onstage to accept his award, shocking everyone, including presenters Danny McBride, Nick Swardson, and Aziz Ansari.

"I couldn’t let down my fans," Bieber said about his surprise appearance.

D'aww, look at that baby face! Even without his trademark swoopy hair, he still looks like such a bby in these throwback pics.

We'd be totally cool with you crashing the Movie Awards again this year, Justin. They're on Sunday, April 10 at 8/7c. Think about it, OK?
