We all have that friend: constantly on the phone while hanging with you (rude), checking Instagram while eating with you (ruder), and sometimes even texting while driving you places (rudest, and extremely dangerous, too).
According to the National Center for Statistics and Analysis, more than eight people are killed and 1,161 are injured in crashes reported to involve a distracted driver every day in the United States, and plenty more throughout the rest of the world.
So, how do we reduce that number? One commercial in New Zealand has a... strange... idea.
Set to a cover of Lionel Richie's "Hello," a commercial by the New Zealand Transport Agency suggests that a little awkwardness might inspire your cell phone-addicted pals to concentrate on driving instead of rushing to check the notification they just heard on their iPhones.
